Cleaning step-by-step

By maintaining your premium quality brushes properly, they will last for years! Good for you and for the environment. How exactly do you do that? Find out here.

Step 1

Wipe the excess paint off your brush by ironing it out firmly but slowly along the edge of the tin, bucket or paint kettle.

Step 2

Rinse the brush thoroughly in a bowl or pot of lukewarm water. Caution: do not rinse your brush under a running tap. This is harmful to the environment.

Step 3

Soak the brush in lukewarm water. This will release the majority of the paint from the brush. Note: only place the bristles from the brush in the water and not the ferrule or the string. The string is made of cotton. After prolonged periods, the rope can expand and loosen. If the ferrule is not made of stainless steel, it can rust after regular contact with water.

Step 4

Rinse the brush briefly to remove any paint residue. After using the brush with water-based paint, cleaning with water alone is often sufficient. After painting with oil-based lacquer, oil or wax, we recommend that you also clean your brush thoroughly with green soap or an environmentally friendly cleaning agent. Make sure that all paint between the bristles has been rinsed off.

Step 5

Time to dry the brush! To do this, shake the brush well over the pot of water and then hang it up, using the hole in the handle.

Note: do not place or rest your brush on the bristles. These can deform as a result of resting on its weight. This will not benefit your future use of the product and the results you wish to achieve. Placing the brush with the handle down in a pot to dry is also not wise. The water then sinks down from the brush bristles and the remainder stays in the ferrule, which can cause it to rust. Furthermore, the paint residues then dry in the ferrule at the base of the brush. As a result, the suppleness, the absorption capacity and the quality of your brush deteriorate.

Extra tip

Always treat the bristles of the brush with care and attention. Clean your brush on time and carefully and never let the paint dry in the brush. This way it retains its softness and elasticity.
