You have invested in a nice set of brushes, then of course you want to know how best to store them. Because if there’s one thing our brushes are known for, it’s long durability. In this blog we explain all the must-do’s for storing your paint brushes in the right way so they last for years to come.
First of all, besides good storage, thorough cleaning of your brushes is essential. You do this by filling a clean container with lukewarm water and rinsing the brushes in it as thoroughly as possible. Then dry the brushes with a dry cloth.
For storage, our ultimate tip is to use the Store & Go from GoPaint. These buckets contain a natural gel for acrylic and alkyd paints to store your brushes. After use, you can hang the brushes in the bucket by using the brush clips that are attached to the insert container. This will keep your brushes in top condition.
Don’t have this amazing product on hand right now? No worries! Plastic wrap will do as a temporary solution. Just make sure you have taped the foil tightly so that no air can get in.
The ideal location for storing your paintbrushes is a cool and dry place. Storage areas such as cabinets in a garage, an attic (except in summer) or in a basement are suitable places to keep your brushes. These locations are perfect, but be careful not to freeze them during the cold months. It’s best to store your (uncleaned) brushes and paint in a room where it gets no colder than 5°C and no warmer than 25°C.
